Fire prevention and -detectors

Within the fire prevention category you will find fire blankets, fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, heat detectors and carbon monoxide detectors. All these products are approved according to the latest European standards and therefore meet the quality requirements.

Smoke detectors versus heat detectors
As of July 1, 2022, a smoke detector is mandatory in every home. This obligation already applied to new-build houses, but the new legislation states that a smoke detector must also be installed on every floor in existing houses.

Whether you choose a smoke detector or heat detector depends on the room in which you want to place the fire alarm. Where a smoke detector detects smoke, a heat detector will sound when a rapid change in temperature is detected. A heat detector is therefore ideally suited for areas where there is a lot of vapour, dust or smoke development. For example, think of kitchens, bathrooms or a warehouse. This prevents a false alarm.

In addition, the fire detectors differ in the way of power supply. For example, there are smoke detectors that can be connected to the mains (230V) and smoke detectors that work on a battery (9V). Smoke detectors that work on a battery are very suitable for placement in a boat or caravan, for example.

European standard
When purchasing a fire detector, make sure that it has the EN 14604 quality mark. This quality mark shows that the fire detector has been approved according to European standards.
