Manuals

I’ve lost my safe’s manual. Can I get a new one?

Yes, we have access to all available manuals. If the manual you need is not listed on our ‘manuals’ page, please contact us and we will send it to you.

Which safe suits me?

How do I determine which safe is right for my situation?

Consider what you want to protect (such as money, documents, jewelry, or data), which risk is greater (fire or burglary), and where you want to place the safe. Also think about the preferred type of lock and the size of the safe. Need help choosing the right safe? Use our safe selector or contact us for personal and non-binding advice.

How do I choose the right size safe?

Choose a size that provides enough space for your current and future storage needs. Pay attention to the internal dimensions and whether the safe fits the intended location, such as inside a cabinet or wall. Also consider the door’s swing direction.

What types of locks are available for safes?

Safes are available with key locks, electronic code locks, and biometric locks (like fingerprint access). Electronic and biometric systems are user-friendly and offer additional protection against unauthorized access.

Which safe is best for home use?

A small fire- and burglary-resistant safe is ideal for home use. It allows you to securely store valuables such as jewelry, cash, and documents. Make sure the safe can be anchored and fits the available space in your home. On our website, you'll find a wide range of safes for different purposes.

What is the difference between a fireproof safe and a burglary-resistant safe?

A fireproof safe is designed to protect documents and data from high temperatures, while a burglary-resistant safe is primarily focused on delaying theft attempts. There are also safes that combine both features. You’ll find these on our fire- and burglary-resistant safes page.

General

Can I store digital data safely in a safe?

Yes, there are special data safes for digital media such as USB sticks, hard drives, and backups. These safes protect against burglary, heat, fire, and electromagnetic radiation.

Which safe is suitable for storing important documents?

A fireproof document safe is ideal for passports, property deeds, insurance policies, and other essential papers. These safes can protect contents for up to 60 or 120 minutes against high temperatures.

Is a wall safe or floor safe more secure than a standalone safe?

Built-in safes (such as wall or floor safes) are harder to remove and therefore more secure. They are also less visible, making them less attractive to burglars.

How do I know if my safe meets insurance requirements?

Check with your insurer which resistance class or certification is required for coverage. These are often European standards such as EN 14450 or EN 1143-1, possibly in combination with a specific SKG rating.

Are there safes specifically for businesses or offices?

Yes, there are cash register and deposit safes such as deposit safes for cash, archive safes for documents, and data safes for IT equipment. These often meet stricter standards for frequent use and higher storage capacity.

Is it possible to have a safe installed?

Absolutely. Professional installation ensures that the safe is properly anchored and optimally secured. This is especially recommended for heavier models or high-risk environments. Want your safe installed by a professional? Contact us for the possibilities.

Key Lock

My safe has a key lock. Do you have tips for using it properly?

Yes, keep the following points in mind:

  • Store your keys in a safe place away from the safe itself.
  • Never keep any spare keys inside the safe. If you lose one key, you’ll still have access with the spare.
  • Always have at least two keys available. If one is lost, have a spare made as soon as possible.
  • If you lose one key, it may be wise to replace the entire lock, you never know who might find it.

I’ve lost one of my safe keys. Can I get a spare?

In most cases, yes, but we need the original key to make a copy. Contact us via our contact page.

I’ve lost all of my safe keys. What now?

For security reasons, we do not keep records of issued safe keys. Without the original, we cannot provide new keys. Our service staff can open the safe for you. Please contact us for assistance.

Electronic Lock

What are the advantages of an electronic code safe?

A safe with an electronic lock can be opened quickly without a key and often supports multiple user codes. This is convenient for families or businesses. Many models include an emergency key for added security. For hotel safes, this is also an ideal solution, allowing guests to set their own code.

My safe has an electronic lock, but it won’t open after entering the code.

You may have entered the wrong code. Double-check your code and try again. Some locks have both a user and a master code, try using the master code.

I’m sure the code is correct, but my safe still won’t open.

The battery may be low. This often happens with cheap or nearly empty batteries. Replace them with high-quality brand batteries.

My electronic lock is unresponsive.

The battery is either dead or has leaked. Replace it with new batteries and dispose of the old ones in an environmentally friendly way.

My JUWEL safe won’t open or close.

The door likely wasn’t fully closed last time. Follow this procedure:
(ON)+17+(E) then again (ON)+17+(E)
Then press (ON)+YOUR CODE+(E)
The bolts should recalibrate. Test a few times with the door open before closing.

The safe reopens immediately after I try to close it.

The bolts probably need to be recalibrated. Contact us for assistance.

How do I change the code on my safe?

Instructions for changing the code are in your manual. If you've lost it, contact us to receive a copy.

Tips for setting your code:
Use a 6- or 8-digit code and avoid personal data like birth dates or phone numbers. Always change the factory preset code upon first use.

I changed the code, but now the safe won’t open.

Try the old code. If it works, reprogram the new one. If not, please contact us.

Anchoring the Safe

Why should I anchor my safe?

Safes under 1,000 kg should always be anchored. An unanchored safe can be stolen and opened later. Most insurers also require proper anchoring.

How should my safe be anchored?

Anchoring must be done correctly. We recommend having a professional install and anchor your safe. There are multiple anchoring methods, and a specialist can advise you on the best one.
